Round 2

More exciting than I thought!

I guess yesterday was more exciting than I thought.....

The little kids woke up ate two bowls of cereal and were still hungry, so I made us some cinnamon toast! It's a 2 breakfast day! I know you probably won't believe this but these monkeys actually cried when I wouldn't make them more toast after they gobbled down their 2 pieces(each) of cinnamon toast! 3 breakfasts? Seriously? Nope, I have to draw the line somewhere!

Taking shelter

This has certainlly been a day all about the weather! After being out in it for a while, we are hit repeatedly with one storm after another. About 4 major storms in a all, I believe. But this one, The 3rd one, had a visible tornado headed right for us. We grabbed all our "neccessities" and headed for a safe place. You do see what my kids deem neccessary????

We missed all things severe in the storms thank God!

A few towns surrounding us were indeed damaged.

I just love the skies.

I searched high and low for a rainbow!

Never did get one.

Icing on the cake= Charles, for once, missed all the weather coming home from work. It usually hits right as he is trying to get home. He made it home with no problems.

It definitely was an interesting day!

Manic Monday

Not exactly the way I envisioned my day going...
A severe storm headed right for us made me run out to grab the mail and trash cans before it hit us. An hour and a half later, we get to come inside out of the rain!
I heard it the minute I picked up our first trash can...the door slammed.
I looked up to find both of my kiddos running toward me.
Yep, sure enough, the door is locked tight!
I ran to 5 neighbors, kids in tow, to borrow a phone but not one neighbor was home. Finally on another block I found someone home. I had to wait over an hour for my parents to bring the spare key. We sat on our bench for a while watching the lightening, listening to the thunder and praying that it would miss us. Prayers were indeed answered. It srinkled and even rained enough to move us back to the alcove of the front door but we did watch the storm move right beside us. We didn't get anything severe.
After making it back in safely, I did pull up the weather fo find that what just skimmed over us was large hail, high wind, and lots of rain. The kids were very ungry and very quiet while they ate their lunch picnic style right under my feet!

Easter Weekend

Friday we colored our eggs and made our cake(a new recipe this year, because of the healthy eating, we chose a homemade angel food cake with homemade icing drizzle and fresh fruit for our bunny cake that has always been a white box cake mix and white frosting with coconut and jelly beans.) It was delicious! Saturday we played at Grandma's & Grandpa's, had an egg hunt, ate and played! We had a roast with potatoes and carrots, a huge garden salad, deviled eggs, wheat rolls and our cake. It was perfect! These wind-up toys are as old as I am!
Sara found a creative way to hide the eggs. Can you find them?

Ryan thought of his own way to hide his eggs!

Sunday the kids woke up to find their baskets full of goodies!
then off to mass.

T-ball

Last night was the first practice for T-ball. Sara did Blastball last year and graduated to T-ball this year. She is on a whole new team with 11 girls. She really had a great time playing with the new girls. (She asked on the way home if tomorrow night was baseball, too. When I said NO she almost cried. She said she wanted to play every night.)

The practice was longer than last year. It lasted 1 & 1/2 hours. It will certainlly be different. Blastball only runs to first base. T-ball of course, is all bases. A little more work and a longer ball game. It was very, very hot out there tonight, too. I took a gallon baggie full of orange slices and some baggies of mixed nuts and lots of water! They enjoyed their snacks(p! We made it home just before Charles with only enough time to shower before dinner.

It's gonna be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I made macaroni salad(shells with peas, carrots, mayo, bacon bits) with chicken chunks. The kids will be taking this in their lunches with yogurt, fruit and juice. For their breakfast they will have scrambled eggs, toast, smoothies, fruit, and cold cereal with strawberries. Tonight I will make Sausage Rice Casserole(brown rice, carrots, peas, shredded cheese, breakfast sausage) and Salad! Later this week I will be making Chicken Spaghetti(Grilled chicken breast, sliced with onions and bell peppers(like fajitas) and then add to the top of spaghetti serve with salad!

A nice day...

Woke up this morning and made scrambled eggs with sausage a pan of biscuits and fresh canteloupe. Had the parents over for homemade patty melts(grilled cheese sandwiches with cooked hamburger meat pattys and grilled red onions) and homemade fruit salad! Then cut my dads hair and visited until time for church!

TyPiCal Friday a night

Made a Frito Mexican Salad with ranch style beans, fritos, tomatoes, cheese, catalina dressing and then played Kareoke the rest of the night!

Outdoors

These little monkeys love being outside more than anything else!

Ecspecially while Charles is out mowing doing yard work.
Today we washed both cars, too. Great exercise!!!!

What I wake up to every morning...

I know I made the perfect choice for my flower beds! I love going out and finding all the beautiful roses bloomed. They smell pretty, too. My hummingbird bush is doing a wonderful job, as well. Haven't actually seen any hummingbirds this year, but I am not worried.
This is my front door.

Happy Accident

I experimented today with some chicken. I just grilled the chicken good and brown with purple onion. I sliced it all up thin and stuffed it into tortillas and shreddded cheese. I folded them all nice and tight and grilled the burritos for a few minutes until crispy. Delicious! The kids really loved them!
