We finally got our Ice Day/No School day!

I just love out sparkly trees! The kids finally get their Ice Day and didn't have to go to school!
As it turns out, I am always more excited about this than the kids. My kids are weird! Kevin can't stand missing tennis and that particular day he had a field trip scheduled! Bummer! But they have rescheduled that for next week. Hayley was fine with no school until she went back to school the next day and teacher had them do two of everything because they missed a day. But she is only talking like the other kids in school because I know she doesn't mind the work. She is so excited because they started multiplication. She loves getting new things to learn. She picks up really quick and is bored by repeating the same papers everyday. Kevin was the same way. But believe me, he is being challenged a bit more in jr. high!

Although, we all got our snow day and as excited as we were...we did not get to "enjoy" our day much. Ryan and Sara have has a nasty cold leading up to our ice day and as luck would have it, they had been up all night in pain, ears, etc. So, we loaded them all up and headed to our Dr. on a horrible day to be on the roads. I wasn't sure we would make it there in one piece. But we did have Charles at the wheel, he does this once or twice a year coming home from work, and has had experience with the roads. It is not really the roads that are the problem, it is the other drivers! Just on our way to the Dr. we encountered several accidents. The first one, a girl ran into the back of a utility truck stopped to work on some poles. She just didn't drive slow enough and coulnd't stop once she came up on him. Then because this was on one lane of the two lane road we were left to only one lane and by manuevering around the accident it became a little congested in this area but some other nuckle-head was not about to slow down and loose precious time because of the accident and starts to fly around us and notices a car sitting beside us going a bit slower and tries to get back in our lane and starts fish tailing and swerving out of control. He ends up do a donut and circling the guy he tried to pass beside us. Yes, he ended up in teh ditch and managed not to hit the guy or anyone else! That was scarey!! But just down the road, another car, this one full of senior citizens, facing backwards in the ditch. A wrecker was trying to pull them out as we passed by. There were many idiots on the road! I know we would not have been out there if my babies had not been sick. As it turns out, I am so glad we took them in to see the Dr., Ryan and Sara both had ear infections (in the same ear)and nasty sinus infections/ However, Ryan topped his off with PNEUMONIA!

So, what do you collect?

The thought this weekend was about our collections we have accumulated. I have a big group of collectors! I didn't realize how many collections we had going until we all sat down and thought about it together.

Outside of my wrinkles, lbs., receipts, recipes, dirty laundry, dirty dishes, and trash(good grief, we take that out about 3 times a day now.)I, also, collect crosses, Dreamsicles, books, playing cards, Magnets, Goblets/Wine Glasses, CD's, wheel weights(don't ask!) and bouncy balls, marbles(which Kevin or Ryan will someday inherit)and we, as a family, collect Monopoly games...

Yep,the one on top says Chocolate Monopoly! We haven't "BIT" into that one, yet.
But when I was little I collected paper dolls. It was my favorite pastime! I am positive there are over 300 in this collection. And you better believe I played with everyone of them! That is my dolls below. To the left you can see the SUITCASE I store them in.

Sara will probably inherit my paper dolls, because she is the only one without a true collection. She has recently started a collection of gift cards that Hayley had doubles of.

I have a few other things I collected as a kid that Kevin has inherited already. Check out his blog to find out what they are.

Of course, this all came up because of Ryan's Rubber Duck Collection.

This had the two bigger kids debating who collects what, who has the most, who has the best, and who has collected the longest. You will have to check out the other blogs to find out what they collect! Now, I want to hear about all the things you collect!

It has come to my attention...

That I have always treated my kids with total equality. That I "ALWAYS" do everything the same for each of my kids. That I always make sure everything is 100%fair across the board.
SO, after many debates and conversations in our house....Kevin has a blog!!!!!!!!!!!
I was hesitant to let him blog, EVEN THOUGH, I LET HAYLEY blog. But I kept putting him off and saying no everytime he asked me. But after our many drawn out conversations/debates I have finally agreed that it is only FAIR that Kevin also gets to blog. Note, on my sidebar...The Early Bird is Kevin. Seeing how today starts a four day weekend for the kids, I set aside time this morning to help Kevin get his blog up and running. Most of it is back-blog to get him started and up to speed. However, both kids are enthusiastic to blog and bring me things everyday to put on their blogs. As if I did not have enough to do....
I just hope the other two don't find out that the big kids have their own blog.
