Momma gets a NEW HAIR-DO!

I actually make it to a salon about once a year.... This year was today! I did not expect it to be THAT short but I was ready for a change and did not put any limits on the stylist. I think I am actually back to my "original" hair color! My head feels SO much lighter. I may wake up tomorrow in tears and regrets but today, I really like my new Do!

After

Salon styled it for me...very sleek and sophisticated. I doubt it will ever look like this again!

My take on the new do....wimsy and out of control.

Christmas Cookie's

Charles and the kids are out of school and off work until January 7th. So, yesterday we had all the grandparents over and made Christmas cookies ALL DAY long.
Sara took her work seriously! She did a great job, too!

The baby also had a hand in the cookie making!

They were so yummmy! We will be so stuffed before Christmas even comes!
I wish you were here to eat some with us. We would share!
Merry Christmas, Ya'll!!

It's Not a Snow Day

Last night it took Charles 3 hours to drive home from work which usually takes 1 hour. That is a very normal time for "icey" roads. Well, we got up @ 5 AM (normal time) this morning to watch the news and be sure that there was school today. Kevin has to be at tennis at 6:30 every morning so there was no closing or delays for us and we headed off to tennis...
OK-no one was there, except for about 10 other parents and their kids. The place was locked tight. We hung around a bit(30 minutes) and gave up and came home. I got on the internet and discovered that our school posted a school delay until 10 AM @ 6:46 am-can I remind you we had to be at the tennis center at 6:30 meaning when the school finally posted a delay of school at 6:46 it was of NO use to us!. Which stunk for everyone in athletics-not just tennis!!! Now we are all(yep, babies and all up and dressed and ready for the day) but we have no where to go for 3 hours!
Don't get me wrong....I love for my kids to stay home from school!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I want them home ALL DAY not for 3 hours!

But a 3 hour kink in my day really isn't my idea of a snow day either.

So, no, it did not snow, just sleeted since the kids got home from school yesterday and continued until 9 am this morning.

The kids were so excited about the sleet yesterday(you see, this IS our SNOW) that they performed an experiment...they layed an ice cube on our deck to see how long it would take to melt. IT IS STILL THERE-not melted in any way.

This is not uncommon here to get ice(I think we got REAL snow once, seriously, ONCE! But the starting school at 10 AM is not something I am on board with. I just can't get my head around it.
Today was our~ it's NOT a Snow Day- delay of school snow day!!!
Sure feels good outside! Even if it is our best shot at a White Christmas.

The Kids meet Santa

All the kids sat on Santa's lap with NO TEARS!
Although, you can tell by the look on Sara's face that she was not exactly excited about it.
But she did not cry this year. Ryan did not know what to think, but he was not scared, at all.

We finally did it...

Our Gingerbread House keeps growing...

Notice Gingerbread Man and Christmas Tree
cookie ornaments keeping watch over the peanut baby Jesus
and our Frosty the Snowman craft keeping guard over the house while Santa supervises everything.
This is how Our Gingerbread House started...

Doesn't our gumdrop tree look so nice beside it?

After many years of wanting to make a gingerbread house, we finally did it! But only after we saw pictures of our friends making one. They made it look so fun!

I am not sure, yet, if this will become a new tradition, but it was fun. The kids really enjoyed trimming their house in candy. The sadness came when I told them that they could not eat it.
Thanks Judy's for enticing us to try something new!

Ryan's Birthday Party

Rubber Ducky-Rubber Ducky

I think his face says it all!

He has his "own" cake and then everyone else's cake...

Not a big fan...

ADORABLE!

He had a great day!
Now you may ask yourself...why does he have such a "baby" theme when he is clrearly a big boy now?
Well, that is because he is a rubber ducky collector!

The Birthday Boy!!!

Happy Birthday Ryan! Your a BIG BOY now!

It is tradition in our family to give one gift to our kiddos on their actual birthday. Because the "parties" are rarely on their birthday .
I think he likes it! think he likes it!

We took Ryan to McDonald's for his first nuggets and fries. Then we let him decorate his own Christmas tree for his room-because the other kids have a Christmas tree in their rooms.
More about his big day coming soon!!
